Tuesday, June 26, Boca Raton:
The Boston Globe, through it "Blame America First" columnist, H.D.S. Greenway, continues to mislead the American people in Sunday's (June 24, 2007) article entitled, "No State, No Solution, No Peace....radicalization, despair, gripping the Middle East."
First, for every average American, trust no one whose last name is preceded by no less than three initials. H.D.S. Greenway, as is typical of Northeast, Liberal columnists, blames the Bush Administration for just about everything wrong in Palestine.
How about this for Greenway's opening line: "Once again American policy in the Middle East lies in shambles." Why am I not surprised to read that in the Boston Globe?
What is Greenway's complaint?
That the Bush Administration would push for democracy in such a backwards place like Palestine. Greenway's reverse logic claims that American policymakers pushed for elections in Palestine (how naive, don't you see), Hamas won the election, the U.S. failed to support Hamas, so now it's our fault that chaos reigns there.
Greenway's analysis fails on multiple levels:
1. The unspoken message is "Do not push for democracy among poor, backwards people, because, well, they might elect terrorists to govern."
2. And if the stupid people elect terrorists to rule, the U.S. should support the regime anyway.
The logic is at once condescending and naive at the same time.
Greenway suggests that American policymakers were unprepared for the election of Hamas. To the contrary, this was the best outcome, in terms of alerting those that are still in denial concerning Islamic fascism.
Palestinians, by a majority vote, expressed in the election what millions upon millions of Muslims around the world already believe: That terrorism, mayhem and murder are acceptable methods for accomplishing political goals.
The acceptance of this premise reveals the fallacy of Greenway's argument that the U.S. should have supported Hamas once they were elected.
How so?
Let's start with this: When deciding in what direction you should point your moral compass, point it
away from those who want to kill you! Supporting the Hamas government, as Greenway suggests, that condones and spreads terrorism is little different from the U.S. support of Nazi Germany in the 1930's when we ignored or denied what today would be descibed as Germany's terrorist activities within its own borders.
Trite or not, those ignorant of history are doomed to repeat it.
WAKE UP AMERICA!
Hamas, al Qeada, The Muslim Brotherhood or any of a number of radical Islamist groups want to kill us.(you)
Greenway and his ilk are still in denial: radical Islam seeks to destroy our way of life and no amount of appeasement, negotiating or "nuance" will change that.
Dancing with the devil of destuction is not like "Dancing With The Stars." There is no happy ending... it gets you killed.
